MyHomeCam

Your old phone becomes your home security camera

That old phone in your drawer?
Don't toss it — make it a home cam

No need to buy a new camera. Install it on an old phone, set it up in place, and it instantly becomes a live home camera so you can check on pets, babies or an empty house from anywhere.

What it does

You worry about your pet home alone, keep thinking about the baby napping in the next room, or wonder about the house you've left empty for a few days — yet spending real money on a home camera feels like a lot. MyHomeCam puts the old phone from your drawer to work instead. Set the phone that stays home as the monitor (home cam) and the phone you carry as the viewer, log in with the same account, and you're done. Family members can watch with a single invite code, and you can also watch in a computer browser. Video and audio are encrypted and travel only between your devices — never stored on a server — so it's your own private home cam.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What do I need to use it?
Just two Android phones. Install MyHomeCam on the phone that stays home and records (monitor) and on the phone you'll use to check in from outside (viewer), then log in with the same account to connect them. Put it on an old phone sitting in a drawer, plug it into a charger and set it in place — it becomes a home camera right away. No extra camera equipment needed.
Can I watch when I'm away from home?
Yes. You don't need to be on the same Wi-Fi — check live video and audio from home on your phone while you're out, at work or traveling. Check on a dog or cat home alone, a sleeping baby, or an empty house anytime.
Will it tell me if something happens at home?
With detection mode on, you get an instant alert on your phone the moment there's movement or sound. You'll know right away when your pet barks, the baby cries, or something unexpected moves — no need to keep watching the screen.
Can I only watch, or can I talk too?
It supports two-way talk: press the “Push to talk” button to send your voice to the home cam. Call your pet, soothe your child, or talk to family at home from wherever you are.
Can I zoom in or record?
From the viewer, zoom the camera remotely at 1x, 2x or 4x for a clearer look, and record video with audio whenever you need to. Recordings are saved on your phone and can be moved to your gallery. Full-screen viewing and screen rotation are also supported.
Is my privacy safe?
Video and audio are encrypted and sent directly between the two devices, and are never stored on a server. Only your devices logged in to the same account and family members you've given an invite code can watch. Turn on Privacy mode when you're home to decline viewing requests and pause detection. You can also black out the screen of the phone used as the home cam, so it isn't obvious that it's a camera.
Can I watch on a computer?
Yes. Open “Watch on a computer” in Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox and log in with the same ID you use in the app, then pick a home cam from the list to start watching. Multiple cams can be shown on one screen with Grid view. For security, the phone app gets a “New login” alert each time you log in from another device.
Can my family watch too?
In your phone's menu, tap “Family sharing → Create invite code” to get an 8-digit code (single use, valid for 24 hours). Once a family member logs in with their own account and enters the code, the home cam appears in their list as “Shared with me,” and they also receive detection and status alerts. Only the owner can rename, delete or change remote settings.
Can I see several home cams on one screen?
With two or more home cams, tap “Grid view” above the list to see up to 4 on one screen. Tap a tile to turn on sound for just that cam, or switch straight to a larger view. Add the home screen widget to see each cam's connection, battery status and last detection time right on your home screen.
